Founded in 1992, Hillside’s initial success stemmed from its employees’ dedication to customer service. Beginning as a small machine and fabrication shop with expert personnel, the company developed close relationships by learning and anticipating customer’s machinery and facility related needs. These services were always provided at a competitive price with 100% on time delivery.
In 1993, Hillside moved into a larger facility in Downingtown, PA. Capabilities and efficiencies increased with the acquisition of upgraded equipment. Machine shop improvements included installation of multiple 3-Axis programmable TRAK knee and bed mills, as well as a wide variety of engine lathes, including a mammoth 36” swing, 16 ft bed-length Monarch lathe. The fabrication shop implemented plate shearing, press brakes, and the latest welding technologies.
The continuous acquisition of highly-skilled personnel allowed the company to offer millwright and in-plant support services. Hillside craftsmen became embedded in many customers’ maintenance and engineering departments. With minimal customer supervision, Hillside employees handled a wide range of responsibilities including preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, machinery repair, engineering projects, and day-to-day maintenance department needs. These “partnerships” provided Hillside with extensive knowledge of the food processing, food packaging, paper production, plastic manufacturing, printing, and raw material processing industries.
By 1994, continued success and emerging opportunities prompted another major expansion of the Hillside organization. In need of a larger facility, the company moved into an Exton, PA location. With a growing staff comprised of machinists, welders, fabricators, and mechanics, Hillside branched out into machine building and CNC machining. Vertical Machining Centers and CNC Lathes were brought on-line along with CAD/CAM software capabilities. Initial machine building projects included packaging gluer/formers and in-line printing press units. Sustained commitment to the company’s core values of customer service, on-time deliveries and competitive pricing allowed established business segments to thrive.
With new opportunities arising, Hillside moved to a 45,000 sq. ft. facility in Honey Brook, PA. The facility contained a state-of-the-art machine and fabrication shop. Our continued success over the year prompted us to hire more employees and extend our equipment line. The purchase of several CNC lathes and a new AWAE Mechatronic Bridge Mill were made to keep up with demand. This allowed for added capacity to handle larger, more complicated projects.
Fast forward to the present day, Hillside has built a brand new 75,000 sq. ft. facility in Morgantown, PA. The building designs also included previsions for an additional 25,000 sq. ft. to be added on for future expansion. Our shop offers vertical and horizontal milling, unmatched turning capabilities and full CNC programmable equipment. Our fabrication shop can weld, bend, shear and finish a variety of materials to any specification. On the assembly floor, we have expert mechanics and electricians ready to build any type of custom automation equipment. Our fleet of trucks is geared up to bring our expertise to your plant or job-site to assist with your projects. Our staff is standing by to help with any of your drawing, reverse engineering, prototyping, or modeling needs.
